People across the region are being urged to sign up to a special fun run to support organ donation.
The Bolton News Donor Run will take place at Leverhulme Park, Bolton, on Saturday, August 9, as part of the Westfield Health British Transplant Games.
The games are taking place in and around Bolton from August 7 to 10.
Around 500 people have registered for the run but places are still available.
The donor run aims to raise awareness of the need for more people to sign on to the NHS Organ Donor Register.
The run starts and finishes at the Leverhulme Park athletics stadium and takes in the park and its surrounding areas.
Two distance options, 3km and 5km, are available and anyone over the age of 13 can enter the run. People can choose to walk, run, jog or even skip their way around the course.
Entry fee for the 5km run is £10 and entry to the 3km event costs £8.
Chair of the British Transplant Games, Councillor Anthony Connell, said: “Currently, around three people die every day whilst waiting for an organ, so our event is crucial in raising awareness of the urgent need for more people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register.
“The run is open to all ages and abilities and it is an amazing opportunity to run alongside the transplant athletes and observe first-hand the benefits of transplantation. I would urge as many people as possible to join in.”
