Budding entrepreneurs are becoming market traders for the day as part of a major national campaign.
The popular Love Your Local Market campaign, led by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA), is making a return to Bolton this week and a host of market stalls have been snapped up on Victoria Square from Thursday, May 16 to Saturday, May 18.
With a range of stalls each day from 10am until 4pm, there will be something for everyone including vintage 1960s and 1980s clothing, hand-decorated gifts, jewellery, cakes, Parisian street food, greetings cards and accessories for cats.
Bolton College students will also be offering arts and crafts, plants, sports therapy massages and beauty therapy, while construction students will be selling bird boxes, benches and more.
An additional highlight on Thursday, May 16 is the official launch of the Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2013.
This will be the first chance to buy tickets for the popular celebrity chef demonstration events with a star studded line-up featuring the likes of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, Aldo Zilli, James Martin and Michael Caines.
The launch is at 1pm on Victoria Square.
On Saturday, May 18 there will be a Health Fair in the marquee from 10am to 3pm, featuring advice on a wide range of issues such as weight loss and stopping smoking as well as free GP health checks.
Joan Farnworth, from the Bolton Market Wellbeing Project, will provide a cookery demo with free taster samples and recipes. There will be also be music from the Bourbon Street Roof Raisers, who will be playing 30 minute sets at 11.30am,1pm and 2pm.
Westhoughton Market will hold their own Love Your Local Market event from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, May 25. There is still limited availability for traders for this event and application forms can be downloaded from our website - link in right hand panel on this page.

Love Your Local Market was launched in 2012 after a review by Mary Portas recommended a national day to promote markets and to help budding entrepreneurs use markets as a step on the business ladder.
