Severe Weather Warning

breaking news

We have been informed by the Met Office that severe gales and storm force winds are forecast across the North West for later today and through this evening.

The main period of disruption looks set to last from now until midnight.

According to Met Office advice, this could result in trees being brought down, disruption to roads and damage to buildings.

The Heaton and Lostock Area Forum set to take place at Ladybridge High at 6:30pm this evening has been postponed but we are not aware of any other service impacts at this time.  We are monitoring the weather closely so that we can respond quickly should the situation change.

Council staff have been put on standby to remove obstacles such as fallen trees and to temporarily close roads should they be affected by debris.

Any problems on the roads should be reported to Access Bolton on 01204 333333.

If there is an immediate risk to life please call the emergency services by dialling 999.
