A £600,000 scheme to improve Bath Street and a section of St George’s Road starts today (Monday, October 26).
The footpath on Bath Street and the St George’s Road footpath, between Duke Street and Bath Street, will be repaved with flags to enhance their character and appearance – similar to the new paving on Bradshawgate.
Bath Street will also have its road block paved as part of the scheme.
Works are expected to take about four months to complete and during this time Bath Street will be completely closed to through traffic but the road will remain open to pedestrians.
Businesses and residents will have access at all times.
The work is being phased to coincide with the opening of the new multi-storey car park currently under construction off Topp Way.
When Bath Street reopens the road will be one way from Clarence Street towards St Georges Road.
Local contractor A.E. Yates Ltd will be working with Council Engineers following the successful delivery of similar works on Bradshawgate.
