Motorists are being warned of overnight closures when work to improve a town centre road starts on Monday (October 9).

Folds Road will be resurfaced, in both directions, from its junction with Turton Street to Kay Street.

In an effort to minimise disruption, the work will be undertaken overnight from 8pm to 6am.

For the first fortnight, the inbound section of Folds Road (from Tonge Moor to Bolton) will be closed while work is carried out. Traffic will still be able to use Folds Road in the opposite direction.

The outbound lane (from Bolton to Tonge Moor) will then close for approximately two weeks. While work on the outbound section takes place, motorists will be able to access Folds Road in the opposite direction.

Diversions will be signposted when closures are in place. The roads will be open at all other times.

Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Cllr David Chadwick, said: “We have timed the work to place overnight in an effort to keep disruption to minimum.

“I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and we would also like to thank motorists, residents and businesses for their patience and co-operation.”
