Bolton Council has announced a new partnership between its Families Information Service and children’s centres, and Jobcentre Plus.
The organisations will work together to support and encourage Bolton parents into training and employment and out of poverty.
The new ‘Statement of Working Agreement’ will aim to get 70 per cent of single parents back into work and promote the government’s long-term policy to reduce child poverty.
This will be achieved through a number of joint initiatives including children’s centres providing Jobcentre Plus with dedicated places throughout Bolton to carry out interviews and inform parents of the latest job vacancies.
Having somewhere to access information in their local community will make it easier for parents to find employment or training opportunities. Parents will also be able to find out about high-quality childcare in their area at Jobcentre Plus.
Councillor Ebrahim Adia, Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “I am thrilled that we can work together with Jobcentre Plus to encourage and inform parents about local employment and training opportunities. I advise all parents to use this new services that is now available to them.”
