A scheme to resurface Tonge Moor Road will require some evening work this week.
Work to improve the road from Turton Street to Starkie Road, started on September 30 and is expected to finish on November 17.
The contractors are now moving into the final stages of the resurfacing scheme and need to carry out some resurfacing work after the evening peak hours.
This is required because undertaking this particular part of the scheme during the day would cause more traffic disruption.
Tonge Moor Road will remain open but in order for work to take place safely the road will be reduced to one lane when work is being carried out. Temporary traffic signals will be in operation and road users are advised to consider alternative routes if appropriate.
On Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday, November 6, Tonge Moor Road, between Matalan and Starkie Road, will be resurfaced between 8pm and 11pm.
From Thursday, November 7 to Sunday, November 10, between Matalan and Turton Street, work will take place between 8pm to 6am.
Other work will also continue during the day but the road will be open both ways.
The council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused to local residents and road users, and every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
Local residents and businesses are being informed. For more information contact the council’s customer helpline on 01204 336677.
The £440,000 road improvement scheme is part of the council’s plans for essential road repairs which are taking place across the borough.
