Bolton citizens from around the world will come together on Thursday (18/06) when The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Norman Critchley, will lead the town’s Genocide Memorial Day service in Victoria Square.
Organised by the Bolton Interfaith Council, in partnership with Bolton Council, the event will see tributes paid to those communities affected by genocide. The ceremony aims to raise awareness of their plight and reaffirms the hospitality of the town towards them.
The Mayor said: “I am looking forward to leading the service and seeing all of Bolton represented. Genocide Memorial Day is an important date in the year's calendar as it gives us all a chance to remember everyone affected by all genocides throughout the world.
“I would encourage all Boltontians to show their support and come along to the event.”
The Memorial service will take place from 3pm to 4pm.
