A scheme to resurface a section of Manchester Road will start on January 9.
Manchester Road southbound from its junction with Green Lane to its junction with Smith’s Road will be fully resurfaced.
The work will be carried out every night from 8pm until 6am, between January 9 and 22, and will require road closures.
Manchester Road southbound will be closed between Green Lane and Loxham Street. Motorists will also not be able to access St Peter’s Way from Manchester Road as both the north and southbound slip roads from St Peter’s Way will be closed.
While work is taking place, Manchester Road northbound between Green Lane and Loxham Street, will operate a contraflow system to allow traffic to continue travelling in both directions.
Access onto Manchester Road from Rowena Street will be prohibited and traffic will be diverted to Ivanhoe Street.
Alternative routes will be signposted and the road will remain open at all other times.
Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Cllr Elaine Sherrington, said: “ Due to the location and volume of traffic that uses this section of road, the work will be undertaken overnight to ensure that they are done as efficiently and safely as possible.
“We appreciate that there may be some disturbance and inconvenience to local residents and road users, and we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience.”
