Budding entrepreneurs are encouraged to become market trader for the day as part of a major national campaign.
The popular Love Your Local Market campaign, led by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA), is making a return to Bolton in May and a host of free market stalls are up for grabs.
Anyone who is new to market trading and fancies selling their wares at either Bolton or Westhoughton markets, just for the day, can sign up now.
Love Your Local Market fortnight takes place across the country from May 15 to 29, and Bolton Market is offering their free stalls from Wednesday, May 15 to Saturday, May 18.
Westhoughton Market will hold their event on Saturday, May 25.
Last year’s event attracted around 20 new stallholders and was launched by former Apprentice finalist and successful market trader, Adam Corbally. Cooking demos were also performed by celebrity chef, Simon Rimmer.
Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, Councillor Akhtar Zaman, said: “Last year’s event was highly successful and it was great to see so many people showing an interest in market trading.
“Bolton Market is an award-winning market and is currently undergoing a £4.5 million refurbishment, so it’s clear that we value market trading highly in this town. This campaign is a great way of helping budding entrepreneurs take their first step on the ladder to success.”
Graham Wilson OBE, chief executive of NABMA, said: "Love Your Local Market is the biggest market event in a generation. It gives people the chance of a new career and demonstrates how important the market is to the local community.”
The Love Your Local Market event is open to individuals who haven’t traded before, school groups, colleges and community groups across Bolton.

Bolton Market is one of Britain’s oldest food markets and has won Best Food Market in the prestigious BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards. Westhoughton Market has won Best Indoor Market in the NABMA awards.
Love Your Local Market was launched in 2012 after a review by Mary Portas recommended a national day to promote markets and to help budding entrepreneurs use markets as a step on the business ladder.
