A scheme to improve Lostock Lane, in Westhoughton, starts on Monday (March 26).
A 300 metre section of the road, from the railway bridge towards Westhoughton, will be resurfaced.
The road has been eroded by running surface water and work has been completed recently to improve the drainage.
Work starts on March 26 and is expected to take a week to complete dependent on weather conditions.
In order for the work to take place safely, road closures are in place. Lostock Lane and Wingates Lane will be closed from March 26 to April 1. A signed diversion route is available via De Havilland Way and the A6 Chorley Road.
Bus diversions will also be in place for the 516 and 517 services, and residents should contact Traveline on 0871 200 22 33 for details.
Residents and motorists are asked to be patient and to contact Bolton Council’s helpline on 01204 336600 for further information.
The work is being carried out by J. Hopkins & Sons on behalf of the council.
