Residents are invited to channel their creativity during a weekend dedicated to having fun and learning new skills.

Bolton Library and Museum Services are taking part in the annual Fun Palaces weekend on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2.

A series of events will take place over the two days aimed at encouraging people to try out new activities, learning direct from members of their local community.

Participants can try their hand at short story writing, card making, creative movement and crocheting to name just a few of the activities on offer.

The events will take place at libraries throughout the borough and are free to enter.

Fun Palaces is a community-based campaign to bring together the arts and sciences.

The idea was conceived in the 1960s as a ‘laboratory of fun’ and ‘university of the streets’. Its aim is to provide free, fun activities for local people, by local people in a bid to engender community engagement.
