Last chance to register to vote for the first elected GM Mayor

Anyone who is not already on the electoral register has just days left to add themselves in time to be able to vote in the first ever elections for a Greater Manchester Mayor.

People will not be able to vote on 4 May unless they have registered by Thursday 13 April 2017.

Eight candidates have confirmed that they are standing in the landmark election, and Greater Manchester people are urged to make sure they are registered so they can have their democratic say.

Anyone who is on the electoral register can also choose to register to vote by post. Applications for a postal vote must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 18 April 2017.

The deadline to appoint a proxy – to appoint someone else to vote on your behalf – is 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2017.

Registration is a quick and easy process. If you are not registered you can visit to download a registration form.

You will just need your date of birth and national insurance number. If you need to update your details (for example if you have moved house, or changed surname through marriage) or simply check whether you are on the register see Bolton council’s website:
