Work to improve a key town centre road will start on Monday, March 3.
Bridgeman Place will be resurfaced to combat the effect of previous severe winters.
In order to minimise disruption the majority of the work will be undertaken during off peak hours.
Some road closures will be necessary in order to carry out the work safely but no road closures will be in place during peak times.
From Monday, March 3 to Friday, March 7, Bridgeman Place will be closed from 6.30pm to 7am. The closure will mean traffic will not be able to travel down Bridgeman Place to join on to St Peter’s Way or Bradford Street. Diversion routes will be signposted. Bradford Street and Lower Bridgeman Street will still remain open for traffic coming off St Peter’s Way.
Work will also take place from 7.30am to 7pm on three Sundays: March 9, 16 and 23. Bridgeman Place will remain open but in order for work to take place safely the road will be reduced to one lane when work is being carried out. Road users are advised to consider alternative routes if appropriate.
During these Sundays it will also be necessary to close St Peter’s Way A666 northbound slip road. Diversion routes will be signposted.
The council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused to local residents and road users, and every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
