Major work to improve the junction of Weston Street, Nelson Street and Crescent Road will start on Monday, September 6.
The £1m scheme involves installing new traffic signals with pedestrian crossing facilities and the widening of Crescent Road onto the site of the former Hartford Mill. A new parking lay-by will be constructed for vehicles to be parked safely on Crescent Road.
Improvements are expected to take until next May to complete, dependent on weather conditions.
The major works have been timed to take place during off-peak hours to keep disruption to a minimum.
Temporary traffic signals will be in use at certain times to allow construction to take place safely.
Local company Bardon Contracting are carrying out the works for the council. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journey during the works and to contact Bolton Council’s helpline on 01204 336677 for further information.
