The Mayor of Bolton is inviting Bolton’s residents to come together and join him this Saturday (15/08) to honour VJ Day.
In memory of the anniversary of Victory in Japan, the Mayor Councillor Norman Critchley and Mayoress Delyse Critchley, escorted by veterans will welcome all at the bottom of the town hall steps.
There will be prayers at the short service, followed the traditional two minutes silence at 11am. A maroon will be fired to mark the start and end of the silence. The flag will be lowered and raised in accordance too.
Wreaths will be laid by the Mayor on behalf of the borough and a representative from the Combined Ex-Services.
The Mayor, Councillor Norman Critchley said:
“I hope that many people will come out to commemorate this very important day. I would urge all those present on Victoria Square on Saturday to join us.”
