Bolton Council is updating the way it involves people in its planning process, its Statement of Community Involvement.
This is a formal statement of the council’s policy for involving communities in its planning decisions. It gives guidance about which people and organisations are consulted on planning applications and how. It also sets out how local communities should be involved in its long term plans for the future development of Bolton.
The council has prepared a draft updated Statement of Community Involvement and it would like everybody to have their say about it. It is now available to view on the Bolton Council website and paper copies can be requested by phoning the Planning Strategy team.
The existing statement of Community Involvement was adopted in February 2007. It now needs to be updated to take account of changes in the way that long term plans are prepared, to reflect experience gained from previous consultation and to incorporate a revised approach to neighbourhood consultation on planning applications.
