TV superstar Titan the robot is making a welcome return to Bolton this Saturday, February 19.
The robot - who has just finished a 40 day tour with boyband JLS, danced with pop star Rihanna, and has also appeared on ITV morning show Daybreak - first wowed the town in 2009.
The mighty 8ft (2.4m) walking, talking robot was such a success that organisers invited him back last year and they have asked him to come back again for another show-stopping performance.
The robotic marvel who sings ballads, dances and talks will be performing two free 30-minute shows, starting from Victoria Square at noon and 1.30pm.
Following the success of town centre Saturday entertainment over the last two years, Bolton Council has organised a variety of acts over the next few months to boost town centre footfall and trade.
Titan is the latest in a long line of free performances that the council has lined up to draw shoppers in to town.
Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Development and Regeneration, Councillor Ismail Ibrahim, said: “Titan is always a highlight on our town centre events programme. When we first invited him to perform he was popular but relatively unknown. Since then he has taken the world by storm. Hundreds of people have turned out to see him in previous years and he is fantastic free entertainment. I’d urge everyone to come in to town on Saturday and give him a proper Bolton welcome."
Titan was built by Cyberstein Robots, and he took creator Nik Fielding four and a half years to develop. He has performed all over the world and made his first public outing at the Glastonbury Festival in 2004.
Mark Foggett, from Cyberstein Robots, said: “Titan’s definitely looking forward to coming back to Bolton. It’s been very good when we’ve been there, it’s a great town centre for Titan and he’s always had a fantastic reception.”
