Get active this summer

There are plenty of opportunities for young people to get out and about doing sporting activities this summer.

Bolton Council runs a vast range of sports and activities for young people across the borough. From football to mountain biking or multi-sports sessions, there’s bound to be something for everyone.

Throughout the summer, Bolton’s new multi-use games area will be touring the borough, giving more young people the chance to give street soccer a try.

Alternatively, the Freebie scheme offers free swimming to anyone aged 16 and under, giving the town’s youngsters a chance to make a splash without splashing out and keep cool in the pool this summer.
And, as excitement reaches fever pitch for the London 2012 Olympics, Bolton will hold an Olympic Countdown event next Monday (27/7), in which all sports fans can look forward to the games and celebrate the town’s Olympic medal winners.
Councillor Ebrahim Adia, Executive Member for Children’s Services at Bolton Council, said: “The range of sporting opportunities taking place in Bolton this summer is really impressive.

“Not only will it provide young people with a wealth of things to do during the school holidays, but it will also help to keep them fit and active. I hope that as many people as possible find out more about what is going on in their area.”
