An array of family events will take place in Queens Park on Saturday, July 30 to help Bolton get active.
Taking place between noon and 4pm, the Get Active day features a display from the world-renowned M.A.D. mountain bike display team.
With more than a decade of performing shows at professional world-class events, M.A.D. has dedicated itself to promoting a healthy and positive outlook on mountain biking and cycling.
Anyone inspired to get on their bike by the display can test their skills on a mountain bike assault course suitable for all ages, or take part in adult cycle sessions. Other activities include Nordic Walking, a climbing wall and a ropes challenge.
Orienteering and archery courses are also available in the park, while Bollywood aerobics, yoga and Zumba taster sessions will test visitors’ fitness levels.
NHS Bolton will be offering free health checks, advising on healthy eating and staying in top shape. Visitors can pedal their way to a smoothie on a smoothie bike.
Entertainers for young people at the event include a Punch and Judy show, and street theatre from Wimble and Don, a tennis duo with some very unusual coaching techniques.
Farnworth and Walkden Brass Band will offer some classic performances, while Queens Park Bowling Club is hosting taster sessions for all age groups and all abilities.
Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Cleaner, Greener, Safer, Councillor Elaine Sherrington, said: “There is so much going on at Queens Park on Saturday, that there really is something for everyone. The mountain bike display in particular promises to be a highlight, and I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and get active.”
