Young people taking part in Bolton’s Sing Up programme will be showcasing their talents at a gala concert at Victoria Hall.
The concert, which takes place on Thursday June 25, will give the young people from several of the programme’s projects a chance to show off the talent that Sing Up has fine tuned.
Acts on the line-up vary from rappers to a musical theatre group, and will also feature about 250 children from several of Bolton’s secondary schools, both in school choirs and integrated ensembles.
Bolton’s Sing Up programme is one of only fifteen Sing Up Communities in the country, and the only one of these to be judged outstanding following a recent independent evaluation.
Bolton Council bid successfully for the right to take part in the innovative Sing Up programme in 2007, which has since seen many young people engaging with a wide range of projects undertaken in a collaboration between the Music Service and local schools.
Councillor Ebrahim Adia, Executive Member for Children’s Services at Bolton Council, said: “This will be another great opportunity for the young people involved in the Sing Up programme to showcase their skills to a wider audience. I would encourage as many people as possible to go along to the gala and witness the amazing array of talent in Bolton.”
Tickets can be purchased from Bolton Council’s Music Service, contactable on 01204 333533, or on the door on the night. Ticket prices are £4, with a concessionary rate of £3.
