Bolton Council, Bolton Wanderers Football Club and community leaders will be celebrating the anniversary of One Bolton this weekend.

The first ever One Bolton Match Day will bring young people, families and diverse communities together to watch Bolton Wanderers play West Ham United on Saturday, April 9 at the Reebok stadium.

A packed programme of entertainment will wow the crowds from a variety of groups including the Sunshine St Dancers, Monica Ballani Bollywood Dancers, Halliwell St Dancers and the Bolton Majorettes. There will also be music provided by the Bourbon St Roofraisers and the Eagley St Brass Band.

As part of the celebrations, the council will also be asking faith, business and community leaders to reaffirm their commitment to community cohesion and to work with One Bolton to develop new ideas for making the town an even better place.

Leader of Bolton Council, Councillor Cliff Morris, said: “One Bolton was launched a year ago to celebrate diversity in Bolton and engage with the town's varied communities. We are really pleased with what has been achieved in the first year of its existence.

“However, we recognise that there is still more to be done and we'd like to ask all faith, community and business leaders to help us identify new ways in which we can make the borough an even better place to live and work in the future."

Chairman of Bolton Wanderers, Phil Gartside said: “We are pleased to continue our association with and our support for One Bolton, and to be involved in celebrating its first anniversary. It is a tremendous project which celebrates all that it is great about our town and will go from strength to strength. We are delighted that the Football Club has the opportunity to help showcase and celebrate the anniversary and we are looking forward to a great day.”
