Bolton’s festive market featuring continental and local traders launches tomorrow (Saturday, December 5).
Manchester’s Christmas Markets’ supremo Arnd Baggen will be bringing a selection of continental traders to Victoria Square. The stalls will be trading everyday from 10am to 6pm until December 20 and they will stay open longer to coincide with late night shopping on Thursdays.
The continental stallholders will be joined by local producers staging a festive food and crafts market. The local traders will be in Victoria Square this weekend, and December 11, 12, 13 and 18, 19 and 20.
To entice shoppers further Bolton Council has organised entertainment in a marquee on Victoria Square in the run up to Christmas. The festive programme follows Laura White switching on the lights yesterday.
Saturday will see a mixture of family fun including Christmas craft activities organised by Victoria Hall, singing, and performances from local groups. The highlight of the day is the Red Hot Santas, a five piece band. They will entertain crowds at 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm.
The Lairy Xmas Fairy and the Magic Christmas puddings will entertain the crowds on Sunday, December 6. The Christmas Puddings love dancing to cheesy Christmas tunes and if they get into too much trouble, the Lairy Fairy is there to keep them under control. Performances are at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 3pm.
Councillor Cliff Morris, Leader of Bolton Council, said: “The switch-on was fantastic and it was just the start of our Christmas programme. Our town centre festive market, along with more fun and entertainment, starts tomorrow and we’d like to urge as many people as possible to come down and support it.”
