Countryside users urged to join group

Town hall

Lovers of the great outdoors are being invited to join a new group to improve access to the countryside.

Bolton and Bury councils are seeking volunteers to give their views on a range of topics including countryside recreation, outdoor access, and tourism.

The forum will operate as an independent group and the first meeting is set to take place on February 29, in Knowsley Place, Bury at 2pm.

A range of different people are being sought such as walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and landowners.

Representatives from Natural England will be present at the first meeting.

The group will meet twice a year to give their views about access issues and priorities affecting the local area or which might influence national policy.

Those interested in becoming members should contact Bolton Council on 01204 336600 or Bury Council on 0161 253 5353.
