Bolton Council has won an award for the quality and accuracy of its local land and property database.
The authority won Most Improved Exemplar Award for its Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG).
The awards are organised by Intelligent Addressing Ltd and Local Government Information House, part of the Local Government Group.
The LLPG is the master address database created and maintained by each council across England and Wales and is used as the single source of addresses for all it administrative and service systems.
The high quality data in each LLPG is pooled at a national hub to produce the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG), which is then used by many other organisations across local government.
This award recognises the hard work Bolton Council has put into both maintaining its LLPG and constantly improving the data quality.
Councillor Ismail Ibrahim, Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Development and Regeneration, said: “The accuracy of the LLPG is essential and helps with everything from the emergency services needing to get somewhere in a hurry to getting letters out to the correct addresses.
“It’s good news for our customers and this award is a reflection of the hard work our spatial data team put in to maintaining an accurate LLPG.”
They recognise the outstanding achievements of local authorities, local partnerships, police forces and fire and rescue services, in the creation, maintenance and utilisation of the NLPG.
