Beany shepherd’s pie and apple crumble are on the menu at Bolton Market tomorrow (Friday, September 24).
A team from NHS Bolton will be cooking in the market kitchen, as part of Bolton Council’s ‘Love British Food’ campaign.
The campaign is being run as part of British Food Fortnight, a national campaign which celebrates the delicious and diverse food and drink around the country.
The NHS Bolton team will be cooking from 11am to 2pm, and advisers will also be passing on advice on healthy eating.
Councillor Akhtar Zaman, Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Environmental Services, said: “The food fortnight is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our award-winning market and to celebrate British food.”
Alan Haddy, Food and Health Adviser at NHS Bolton, added: “Food plays an important part in our health. We hope our demonstration can show how subtle changes in what you eat can make you healthier, both in body and in mind.”
The council’s two-week campaign runs until Thursday, September 30, with a top prize up for grabs.
AMC cookware is offering a ‘come dine with me’ experience and a £350 cookware voucher for one lucky person. A team of their chefs will go to the winner’s house and cook a three-course meal for up to eight people.
To enter the competition, entrants need to log on to the ‘Real Food’ page at the Real Radio website and answer the question.
Bolton Market was crowned Best Indoor Market 2010 by the National Association of British Market Authorities earlier this year.
