Christmas cheer for support group

A support group for stroke survivors and their carers is getting an early Christmas present thanks to Little Lever and Darcy Lever Area Forum.

A grant of £395 will enable the Joint Initiative Group for Stroke Awareness and Wellbeing (JIGSAW) to provide a buffet, musical entertainment and a Christmas quiz for its members.

Based in Little Lever, JIGSAW helps stroke survivors regain confidence, aids socialisation and provides support and advice.

All members have personal experience of stroke and how it can change lives in an instant.

Membership is open to residents from across Bolton and further information can be obtained from Graham and Lynn Bridge on 01204 387704.

Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Corporate Resources, Councillor Linda Thomas, said: “Every area forum has a pot of money which it is able to allocate to community groups, charities and other deserving causes in the local area.

“This is a great example of the area forum helping out a local support group which directly benefits people in the Little Lever and Bolton area and we hope that this grant spreads a little festive cheer.”
