Children’s television favourite Katy Ashworth will be returning to entertain young fans at Bolton Food and Drink Festival.
Katy, one of CBeebies most popular presenters, will bring a mix of live shows, storytelling and cake decorating to entertain her young food fans.
Le Mans Crescent will be closed off to traffic and turned into a children’s zone, with a giant marquee set up for the shows.
From Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30, Katy will be performing half hour live shows at 10.30am and 2.30pm, with a story time session at 12.30pm. Tickets cost £1.
In honour of the festival’s 10th birthday, on Monday, August 31 the children’s marquee will be transformed into a cake off tent. Katy will host birthday cake decorating classes with aspiring bakers at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm on Monday, August 31. Tickets cost £1.50.
Meet and greets with Katy will also be held daily at 4pm – tickets are free but must be booked in advance. She said: “I had such an amazing time at the last festival, and I’m thrilled to be coming back. I’m looking forward to lots of dancing, singing and I know it’s going to be a huge amount of fun.”
A cast from the Octagon Theatre will be putting on free pop-up theatre - “Fairytales on foot” - at different locations daily between noon and 2pm. Follow the Octagon on Twitter for clues to their location @BoltonOctagon. Free go-karting on Le Mans Crescent, a giant inflatable play park on Howell Croft South, and a play bus on Corporation Street will also help to keep the children entertained.
Leader of Bolton Council, Councillor Cliff Morris, said: “Katy is very well known and loved by thousands of children and their families across the country and we’re very pleased to be welcoming her back. Along with the Octagon’s performances and the free children’s activities and street entertainment, there will be plenty for all of the family to do at the festival.”
