Celebrity chef James Martin will be appearing at the festival

Tickets are now available for the biggest celebration of food and drink in Bolton.

The country’s top celebrity chefs are starring in this year's Bolton Food and Drink Festival, being held from August 27 to 30.

Festival-goers can see King of the Jungle Gino D’Acampo, James Martin and the Hairy Bikers in action during the four-day culinary extravaganza.

All of the chefs will be entertaining audiences with cooking demonstrations in Victoria Square, in the Rangemaster Cookery Theatre.

Duo Dave Myers and Si King, better known as the Hairy Bikers, will take centre stage on Saturday August 28. Gino will be appearing in the cookery theatre on Sunday August 29, and Yorkshire chef James Martin will be cooking in the marquee on Monday August 30.

All cooking demonstrations cost £5 and take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. New for this year, the ticket price includes a recipe card for each demo so food lovers can try out the chefs' ideas at home. There'll also be an opportunity to meet the celebrity chefs at book signings following the cookery shows.

Added ingredients for the four-day feast include the popular ale trail with accredited Blue badge guide and ale aficionado Ray Hoerty on the menu. Ray will lead visitors around Bolton town centre and narrate stories about the history of the pubs on Friday, August 28 at 6pm. Tickets cost £5.

Foodies can purchase tickets to reserve their seats and grab a slice of the action by calling the Albert Halls box office on 01204 334400.

Councillor Ismail Ibrahim, Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Development, said: "Preparations are well underway to make this the best festival to date and this year we’ve extended the event following feedback from the public, and town centre businesses.

He added: “The cookery demonstrations are a great way to pick up a few tips from the professionals and last year tickets sold out in days of going on sale. We’d urge people to call in early so they’re not left disappointed.
“There are also lots of free cookery demos from top local chefs which people can attend throughout the festival.”

A speciality market offering the pick of the region's finest, fresh produce and European fayre will also be on sale throughout the event as farmers and producers take over Victoria Square.

A host of special events and offers have been organised in venues throughout Bolton.
