Bookstart Day at library

Bolton Library is to hold children's activities on Friday (June 11) to celebrate National Bookstart Day.

This year’s Bookstart theme is the seaside, and children from Alexandra Nursery and Children’s Centre, Bolton have been invited along to take part in a story-telling session and craft activities.

Members of the public are also welcome to join in.

The stories will be read by Director of Adult and Community Services, John Rutherford.

As part of the Bookstart celebrations, children can take part in the Bookstart Bookcrawl, which encourages youngsters aged 0 to 4 to join their local library and collect stickers as they learn to read.

Bolton Council is soon to launch their own under 5s membership scheme and information about joining will be available on Bookstart day.

Bookstart is a national scheme run by the charity, Booktrust.

Friday’s event will run from 1.15pm to 2pm.
