Bolton goes online with new website

Bolton Council website

Bolton Council has today launched a brand new website for local residents, businesses and visitors to the borough.

Now live, the easy-to-use website has a stylish and colourful new look and offers a smarter, more personalised approach with separate sections for residents, businesses, visitors, parents and carers, young people and older people. These sections mean that people can immediately and directly access information relevant to them and what the council does for them.

Information can also be found by geographical area, enabling residents to enter their home address and immediately find information about their nearest schools, libraries, waste recycling, any local planning applications as well as details of their local area forums.

Another key feature of the new-look website is its improved search engine and better A-Z structure, allowing Boltonians to speedily surf the site and find their preferred page quickly and easily.

For the first time, the website also provides a unique feedback opportunity, with every page allowing browsers a chance to give their views on the content and what they would like to see changed, added or improved on a particular page or on the site as a whole. Visitors to the site will also be able to rate individual pages as good, poor or average at the click of a button. This feedback will be fed back to council departments, giving them the chance to develop and improve their pages to help communicate information in a clearer and more suitable way in future.

Councillor Linda Thomas, Executive Member for Corporate Resources, said: “This brighter and friendlier Bolton Council website aims to be more helpful and easier to use by grouping all the information relevant to different community groups together in one place.

“It offers residents, businesses, visitors, parents and carers, young people, and older people more personalised content relevant to their particular communities and circumstances. It also features an improved structure and better search and A to Z facilities to help people find what they’re looking for faster.

“We hope that Boltonians enjoy using this new site. We will be developing the site, adding more pages, features and content in the near future.”
