A new Artisan Market launches at Heaton Fold Garden Centre on Overdale Drive this Sunday (June 21).
Around 20 producers and suppliers will be selling high quality and locally sourced food, drink and crafts from 10am to 4pm.
And top local chef Mike Harrison will be performing cookery demos at noon and 2pm.
The market has been organised by Brian Hood, from Signature Soaps – a Bolton-based artisan producer of handmade soaps – in conjunction with the council.
Mr Hood said: “Unlike many garden centres Heaton Fold actually grows a substantial proportion of plants and shrubs from scratch.
“This fits in ideally with the ethos of the small batch producers that will be attending the Artisan Market and makes it a perfect partnership for us all to showcase our products and creativity.
“We hope that people across the town will get behind the market to make it a sustainable and enjoyable monthly attraction.”
Handmade jams and chutneys; homemade pies and puddings; Lancashire cheeses, and fresh fruit and vegetables along with bespoke home furnishings and jewellery are just some of the goods shoppers will be able to buy.
Cabinet Member for Community Services, Cllr David Chadwick, said: “Brian approached the markets team with his idea of holding an artisan market at Heaton Fold on a trial basis, and we were happy to get behind it.
“We are always keen to support local businesses and we think Heaton Fold will be a good location for a market like this.”
The market will be trialled at the garden centre until the end of the year, and will take place on the third Sunday of every month. Free parking is available on site.
