Applications have now opened for pupils who will start a new secondary school in September 2011.
Parents and carers will once again be invited to make their applications online. All those who have registered for their child’s preferred school will receive a letter with their unique identifier code (UID). Once they have received it they will be able to complete the online application form.
More than half of all parents and carers apply this way. It’s secure, easy to use and takes very little time to complete.
Parents using it receive an email confirming their application has been received, and they are able to make changes right up until the closing date. The results of the application are also sent by email to those who have applied online.
If you do not have access to the internet at home you can use the free computers at Bolton’s libraries. You can book up to one week in advance, when visiting the library or by contacting the council, though this is not always necessary.
Primary school admissions booklets will be issued to parents and carers later this month.
If you have not yet registered your child for primary school you should contact the school admissions team (see contact details in right-hand column). If applying for a secondary school there is no need to register as details will be sent automatically.
This year the closing dates for primary and secondary school applications are different:
- For secondary schools you must apply before October 22, 2010.
- For primaries the closing date is January 14, 2011.
