Bolton boxer Amir Khan brought his new title belt home to Bolton and celebrated his success with the Mayor.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, Councillor Noel Spencer and Alice Spencer, invited Amir and his family into the Mayor's Parlour in order to congratulate him on his latest achievement.

Amir showed off his new IBF Light Welterweight belt, which he won in Las Vegas last month.

Amongst the well-wishers were Bolton Council's Leader, Councillor Cliff Morris, MP Yasmin Qureshi and former MP Brian Iddon.

Councillor Noel Spencer said: “It was a great honour to welcome Amir to the Mayor’s parlour and congratulate him on his recent win. He has achieved so much and truly is one of Bolton’s most famous sons. I, along with the rest of the town and his family, am immensely proud of him and wish him continuing success and good health for the future.”

Amir was also presented with a special celebration cake by Sandra Ogden of Greenhalghs the bakers.
