Shoppers can hop on board a vintage red double decker bus to try some festive tipple next week.
The Big Red Bus Bar is an original 1967 Routemaster, which has been refurbished into a functioning bar.
The bus has seating upstairs and will be stopping on Deansgate during Bolton’s festive artisan market, when it will be warming up customers with hot mulled wine, spiced cider, gin and hot chocolate.
It is new for Bolton this year and one of the highlights of the market, which runs from December 1 to 11. The market will open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm on Sundays with late night trading on Thursdays until 8pm.
Bolton Council has organised the event, as part of its Winter Festival programme, to bring some festive cheer to the town centre in the run-up to Christmas.
The bus bar will be part of a bustling market, which will boast around 40 stalls on Deansgate and Oxford Street.
Traders will be selling hot food, including hog roast and freshly cooked Belgian waffles with a choice of toppings.
Visitors also have the chance to pick up Christmas gifts with a range of goods on offer, including jewellery, confectionary, cakes, arts and crafts.
Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris said: “We have pulled out all the stops to make this a Winter Festival to remember.
“The Bus Bar is sure to be a highlight but there is plenty on offer for everyone to enjoy.
“There is also not long to wait until the snow slide, ice rink and Santa’s grotto are in town, and it means throughout December and early into the New Year, there will be lots of festive fun for all the family.”
A full list of traders will be available at www.visitbolton.com/winterfestival. Tickets for the snow slide, ice rink and Santa’s grotto can also be purchased on the website – opening times for the attractions vary.
From December 10 to January 8, 2017 the popular artificial snow slide will return to Newport Street, sponsored by the University of Bolton. And Victoria Square will host the town’s first ever covered ice rink, sponsored by Market Place Shopping Centre.
From December 10 to 24, a traditional log cabin Santa’s grotto, with a snow roof and a giant glittering, singing symphony tree will also entertain visitors on Oxford Street.
Tickets can also be bought from the box office on Victoria Square when the attractions open.
