A star-studded event will take place at the Bolton Albert Halls next month to launch a new charity, Jennifer, which supports widowed fathers and their children.
A Night for Jennifer, taking place on Friday, November 19, will see a host of stars of stage and screen join forces with local acts to take part in a one-off, exclusive variety show. All profits from the evening will go directly to the charity.
Acts such as Eastenders’ Jo Joyner, Little Britain’s Sam Power, and Jana Roberts, who has appeared in Dancing on Ice and on tour with Take That, will provide comedy, music, dancing, circus performances and much more besides.
Jennifer has been set up by Bolton-born James Edgington, who was raised by his widowed father Graham. After coming through some turbulent times in their lives, the pair shot to fame this year as semi-finalists on Britain’s Got Talent, performing under the name Father and Son.
As well as directing the launch night, James will be teaming up with his father once again to treat the Albert Halls’ crowd to a reprise of their Britain’s Got Talent performances.
James said: “Jennifer was my mum's name and this evening is a tribute to her, and also a new beginning for a charity that is so necessary in the UK. We are overwhelmed by the amount of support we are getting and I am determined to reach the families who truly need the kind of support Jennifer will provide.”
Hosted by Tower FM’s DJ Brooksy, this is set to be an outstanding evening of entertainment from some of the best in the business. Not only will you help raise money for a worthy cause but you will enjoy a varied line up all in one night.
Jo Joyner, celebrity supporter of the charity and one of the acts set to appear at the launch, said: "There's nothing like Jennifer around and it will be precious support to those men who sadly need it."
A Night for Jennifer will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets are currently on sale, and cost £14. For more information on the full range of events on at the Bolton Albert Halls, visit the Albert Halls website.
