School and College Performance Tables
The School and College Performance Tables are produced by the Department (DFE)
New look Performance Tables were launched in 2011. They give information on the achievements of pupils in primary, secondary and 16-18 provision in schools and colleges, and how they compare with other schools in the Local Authority (LA) area and in England as a whole. The 2011 Tables present a much wider range of key performance measures than in previous years and now include information on finance, absence, school workforce and the most recent Ofsted reports.
There are four different Performance Tables produced:
Primary school (Key Stage 2) tables
Secondary school (Key Stage 3) tables
Secondary school (results for 15 year olds) tables
Post-16 tables
Which schools and colleges are included in the tables?
The tables cover each of the 150 Local Authority areas in England. All Local Authorities maintained primary and secondary schools are included.
Academies and City Technology Colleges are included in the Secondary School Tables and independent schools are included in the Secondary School (results for 15 year olds) Tables. Independent schools are not included in Primary School (Key Stage 2) or Secondary School (Key Stage 3) Tables.
All schools with sixth forms and Further Education sector colleges are included in the the Post-16 Tables as well as any special schools, sixth form, centres of consortia which have chosen to be included.
Any special schools are listed in a separate section at the end of the tables.
In the Primary School tables results are not published for schools who have 10 or fewer pupils eligible to sit the Key Stage 2 tests. Background information for these schools is published. You may wish to contact the school directly regarding the Key Stage 2 results.
What information is included about schools and colleges in the tables?
Each table provides background information about the school and colleges within it, this includes:
- names, address and telephone number
- age range
- total number of pupils on roll (number of 16-18 year olds for Post-16 Tables)
number and percentage of pupils with special educational needs (not included in Post-16 Tables)
The Primary and Secondary School Tables include a Value Added Measure. This is a measure based on the progress made by pupils whilst at the school.
The Primary School and Secondary School (results for 15 year olds) Tables include information about absence rates at each school. These include figures showing the percentage of half days missed through authorised absence and unauthorised absence.
Each table provides information about the percentage of pupils who achieved a certain standard in the tests or exams and an average points score. The Secondary School (results for 15 year olds) Tables include many more qualifications than just GCSE results, e.g. GNVQs, NVQs, BTECs and AS Levels.
The Primary and Secondary School Tables show a year on year comparison of results.
How often are the tables produced?
The tables are produced every year, in the Autumn Term following the test and exams taken in Summer.
