What is Ask Bolton Libraries?
A boroughwide Enquiry Service providing quick, thorough responses to questions sent by phone, fax, letter or email. The service is for everyone in Bolton and beyond.
What sort of questions do we answer?
We aim to answer questions big and small on anything and everything. You can ask us any question but please remember we can give only information and not advice. We provide local and tourist information, general knowledge facts, business and job-hunting information and sources of homework help – but we can’t write your assignments for you! Please be ready to give us some background to your question so we know where you have already looked.

What can I do in my local library?
At Central Library we have a large reference collection which covers many subjects whilst the branch libraries have smaller collections. All library staff will be happy to help you access these resources and can pass your question on to the Enquiry Service staff where necessary. The Central library also hosts the Bolton Tourist Information Centre and the NHS Bolton Library. All Libraries have computers where you can write CVs, email, surf the net and use the online resources that we subscribe to.
What can I do 24/7?
Our 24 hour library means that even if your local library is not open, you can still access a range of useful services. You can search the catalogue and manage your library account by renewing and reserving items. You can also access information by using our diverse range of online resources and subscriptions or by logging onto Enquire – a live national question and answer service available for free 24 hours a day.
