Bolton’s Core Strategy has been published and is now open for representations from Monday 18 January to Friday, 5 March 2010. The Core Strategy is the key document in the Local Development Framework (LDF) which sets out the long-term spatial vision and strategy for the borough, and the strategic policies and proposals to deliver that vision up to 2026.
You may submit your views on whether you think the Core Strategy is sound by completing a representation form online or by returning it to the council by post or email. If you wish to respond online, please click on the Acolnet link at the top right of this page. If you wish to complete the form and return it by post or email, please click on the download link for ‘Representation form and guidance’. This document also includes guidance on how to complete the form.
Your views must be received no later than 5pm on Friday, 5 March 2010 to be taken into account.
The Core Strategy publication document and all supporting documents are available from the links to the right. They are also available for inspection at libraries, Bolton Town Hall and other main council offices. A full list of these locations, including opening hours, is available to download from the documents on the right.
The Core Strategy will be submitted for examination later in 2010, when it will be assessed for soundness, to ensure it is justified, effective and consistent with national and regional policy. The Planning Inspectorate has produced a guide to the procedures and this can be found in the external links to the right.
Documents have been prepared at earlier stages to support the Core Strategy process. The Core Strategy Key Issues, Issues and Options and Preferred Options reports along with the council’s responses to comments received via the consultation processes are now available to view from the ‘LDF – Archive’ page (see link on left).
The full programme for the preparation of the Core Strategy and other parts of the Local Development Framework are in Bolton’s Local Development Scheme (LDS). The next LDS Core Strategy milestones are as follows:
- Submission to Secretary of State – April 2010
- Pre-hearing meeting – June 2010
- Commencement of examination hearing – August 2010
- Receipt of Inspector’s report – December 2010
- Adoption – March 2011
