Looking for a new home

Bolton Council wants to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to rent or buy a home at a price they can afford, in a place where they want to live and work.

The council’s Homes for Bolton service offers information for people looking to rent or buy a home in Bolton.

The site also provides advice and guidance to tenants and landlords on a wide range of housing issues.

Homes to rent

Homes for Bolton  runs a choice-based lettings service that lets you access information on more than 24,000 homes for rent in the Bolton area.

The site’s Find a Home service is a partnership of eight landlords, including Bolton at Home, which own and manage around 95% of social rented houses in the borough.

The service, which is free of charge, lets you see homes available for social rent in areas that you want to live in, and gives you the chance to tell landlords you are interested.

To register with the Find a Home service call 01204 335811 or visit the Homes for Bolton website and download an application form.

Pinpoint

Pinpoint  is another service that lets you express your interest in social properties for rent.

The scheme includes 10 Greater Manchester local authorities and 13 housing associations.
You can still register your interest in properties with Homes for Bolton’s Find a Home Service, however, registering with Pinpoint will give you a wider choice of properties across a bigger area.

To register with Pinpoint go to www.pinpoint.org.uk.

Buying a home

The council’s housing advice service can help you with a variety of home ownership issues.

These include:

  • Advice to tenants wishing to purchase their home through the Right to Buy Scheme or Right to Acquire.
  • General advice for first time buyers on all aspects of home ownership
  • Home Ownership Schemes targeted at first time buyers, those in housing need, and those who cannot buy a house of their own outright
  • General advice and liaison with other agencies
  • Advice and assistance to home owners experiencing mortgage difficulties

For more information call the housing advice service’s home ownership team on 01204 335423.
