What is a Household Waste Recycling Centre?

Household Waste Recycling Centres are purpose built bring sites which are staffed and managed by Viridor Laing Greater Manchester. At the Household Waste Recycling Centre you are able to take a wider range of items to be recycled such as electrical items and wood. You can take also take old damaged furniture to be disposed.

From 27 March 2011 all Household Waste Disposal Centres will be open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday.

What can I recycle at a Household Waste Recycling Centre?

At the Household Waste Recycling Centre you can recycle items such as wood, rubble and batteries. For an up to date list, use the Recycle for Greater Manchester link to the right hand side of this page.

What is the height of the height barrier at the Household Waste Recycling Centres?

Currently the height barrier at the Household Waste Recycling Centres is set at 6ft 1 inch. However, during April 2011 it is hoped that work will begin to increase the height barrier to 6ft 6 inches (2 metres)

How can I recycle electrical items?

Hurstwood Court, Raikes Lane is now accepting unwanted electical household appliance for re-use. This is a 6 month pilot in partnership with CREATE.  If you have a washing machine, tumble drier or electric cooker in good condition that you would like to donate, please take it to Hurstwood Court and speak to one of the site operatives. For further information about the scheme, click on the Hurstwood Court Electrical Re-use Project link at the right hand side of this page.

If you have any other electrical household appliances that you would like to recycle, please visit any of the 3 household waste recycling centres in Bolton.

How can I recycle my unwanted furniture

From Monday 28 February 2011 Hurstwood Court will be accepting furniture that is in a good condition to be re-used. The new service is being delivered in partnership with Bolton Community Transport. If you have an item of furniture that you would like to donate, please visit Hurstwood Court and speak to one of the site operatives. For more information about the scheme or to check what furniture can be re-used, click on the Hurstwood Court Furniture Re-use Project link on the right hand side of this page.

Alternatively Bolton Community Transport can come and collect them. Call 01204 364777 for further information.
