Bolton’s free Metroshuttle bus service has been extended for another year. The Metroshuttle, which is jointly funded by Bolton Council and the Greater Manchester Integrated Transport Authority (GMITA) will continue to take passengers around the town centre following a successful pilot scheme which started in October 2008.
Two distinctive 28-seater single decker buses operate every 15 minutes, between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Saturday, covering a circular route of around three miles around the town centre and serving 15 bus stops.
This year the route has been extended to include the stop opposite the college campus on Deane Road (also serving the University and nearby multi-storey car park) and a new bus stop on Bath Street near Topp Way multi-storey car park and the re-located Shopmobility service.
The buses have low floor accessibility for wheelchairs and buggies and are designed to the latest standards for reduced carbon emissions.
