The Innovation Zone Bolton is a major regeneration initiative at the heart of the Central Bolton. It initially comprises a number of key public sector developments:
- The expansion of the University of Bolton, a core partner in the Manchester Knowledge Capital Initiative
- The co-location of two major colleges
- The construction of Bolton One, a health, leisure and research centre
- The Southern Link Road
- The refurbishment of Bolton Outdoor Market
- The development of a new Cultural Quarter as a focus for the creative and cultural industries in the town
All of which will be supported by a range of exciting commercial development opportunities.
As the primary economic driver for the town centre over the coming years, the Zone is projected to generate 4,000 new jobs and £300m private sector investment, which would deliver significant local and regional benefit.
