Infrastructure

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) allows local authorities in England and Wales to raise funds from developers undertaking new building projects in their area. The money can be used to support development by funding infrastructure that the council, local community and neighbourhoods want.

Consultation on the Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule concluded on 2 November 2012. This was the first stage of work in developing a Community Infrastructure Levy for Bolton, and set out the initial proposed levy that will apply to the development of new floorspace for a variety of uses across Bolton.

Consultation on Bolton's Draft Charging Schedule took place between on Monday 13 May 2013 and Monday 24 June 2013. The charges have been informed by a range of information which is summarised in the CIL Background Document.

At the current time work has paused. Further information will be made available on the website should the council decide to recommence work on CIL.

In autumn 2015 the council carried out public consultation on a revised Infrastructure and Planning Contributions Supplementary Planning Document to address pooling restrictions arising on the use of S106 agreements post April 2015 and to update current practice and costings. Further details can be found on the Supplementary Planning Documents page.
