One Bolton celebrates the Year of Sport
The One Bolton initiative will continue to unite the borough in 2012 as we celebrate sporting achievement as part of the council’s Year of Sport.
Once again the council has teamed up with Bolton Wanderers Football Club to organise One Bolton Match Day at the Wanderers’ stadium at Middlebrook; this year on April 21.
The event will take place on the day of the Wanderers v Swansea City game and it will bring young people, families and Bolton’s many communities together to celebrate the strength of our diversity – which is at the heart of One Bolton.
Local schools, community groups, businesses and One Bolton partners will receive complimentary tickets to attend the game, whilst others who want to attend can benefit from special One Bolton discounted tickets.
Meanwhile, Bolton is also beginning to gear up for the second One Bolton 5k and Fun Run on July 8. This 5k run is held by Bolton Council in partnership with Bolton Wanderers Community Trust and Active Synergy. Last year’s run was a huge success so organisers are keen to build on that success and are working closely with community and faith groups across the borough.
Deputy Leader of Bolton Council, Councillor Linda Thomas, said: “Once again, the One Bolton Matchday will be a great opportunity to celebrate the rich diversity that makes Bolton a great place to live, work and play. We really appreciate Wanderers’ continued support for the event, as well as the support of the Trust and Active Synergy for the Fun Run.
“Hundreds entered the run last year and in Bolton Council’s Year of Sport we hope to go one - in fact thousands - better this time! Our aim is to have 2012 runners for 2012 raising money for local charities. So spread the word and let’s see whole families running for One Bolton.”
anager of Bolton Wanderers, Owen Coyle, added: “We are delighted to support One Bolton again. The spirit of One Bolton is the spirit of Wanderers too. We are a football club which is respected by our local community and people in our local community are known for respecting each other. Being in a team is all about working together to achieve a common goal and that’s why One Bolton fits so perfectly with Wanderers.”
To celebrate the One Bolton Match Day, Bolton Wanderers has significantly reduced prices for this fixture, with tickets available from only £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for under 18s. Family tickets (1 adult and 1 Under 18) are available for only £18.
Groups of 10 or more* can enjoy further fantastic savings with tickets available anywhere in the stadium at only £10 for adults and £5 for concessions**. For group bookings, please call the Bolton Central Group Sales Team on 01204 673651.
Participants of all ages and all fitness levels are encouraged to get involved in the One Bolton 5k and can support their chosen charity at the same time.
