The council works nine other local authorities in the area, through the Greater Manchester Local Transport Plan to improve movement across the region. In such a built-up area with people moving across local government boundaries for work and leisure, it’s important to co-ordinate activities.
There are hundreds of miles of roads, streets and footpaths across the borough which all need maintaining. On these pages you’ll find details of where and when roadworks take place; what to do to report problems in the road such as potholes or broken street lights, and other issues such as ‘alley-gating’ to prevent crime.
There’s also information about public transport in Bolton and the wider area. It includes details of the work of our partner, the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive and other organisations. There’s some details on travel passes and other help with transport too.
